Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6 am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG). He put
on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE)
and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new
electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE
IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today. After setting his watch
(MADE IN TAIWAN) to the radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE
IN GERMANY) filled it with GAS (from Saudi Arabia) and continued his search
for a good paying AMERICAN JOB.

The fight goes on... On Tuesday, May 29, 2007, a ceremony was held for the ground-breaking for the new Wal-Mart Supercenter. On Wednesday, May 30, 2007, papers were filed with the Washington County Circuit Court and with the State of Wisconsin, appealing the Hartford Zoning Board of Appeals decision to not require a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) for the inclusion of a tire change and lube service, as is required for any other similar type of service. Read it here. Update, August 27, 2007: Wal-Mart was denied an appeal of its motion to deny a hearing of an appeal by the HCRG for a hearing on the timliness of filing of an appeal. Yes, it sounds confusing, but it really is what is. I guess that's why lawyers are needed to sort it out. Read more about it here. On June 25, 2008, the Court of Appeals of Wisconsin, District II, denied the request by HCRG to overturn the denial of the appeal on the timeliness of the proper submission of the paperwork to do so. Yes, believe it or not, it took the court system from May 30, of 2007, to June 25, 2008 (almost 13 months), to deny the HCRG the opportunity to even present its case contesting that the papers were filed 3 minutes late. And this was not until the court was informed in April of 2008 that the case wasn't even in the schedule. Hmmmm....
