PRESS RELEASE...FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE... MAY 11, 2006 HARTFORD CITIZENS GROUP EXPANDS SCOPE The Hartford Citizens For Responsible Government, formed on April 10, 2006, after the annexation of land on Hartford's west side for development of a proposed Wal-Mart Super Center. When the group met on Monday, May 8, they concurred that they should expand the scope of their purpose beyond that of blocking of the Wal-Mart project , but also to address other issues that concern "health, safety, and quality of life" in Hartford. Members present at the meeting have expressed concerns over additional issues that have been brought to the attention of Hartford Alderpersons, the police department, and city department contacts that have been either ignored or not resolved. Included in these issues are reports of trash and refuse burning within the city limits, loitering and littering of areas near Aurora Medical Center. The CRG proposed to develop a process for addressing issues such as these on behalf of the citizens. Their website, http://www.hartfordcrg.org, has also been expanded to include newspaper articles regarding the Wal-Mart project, and will soon include a forum for citizens to express their concerns. Residents in Hartford and surrounding communities who are concerned with actions (or inactions) of city leaders are invited to get involved by visiting the website, and by joining them at their next meeting, at the Paradise Restaurant (back room), on May 22, 6:30pm Submitted with the approval and on behalf of: Marilyn Raschka, spokesperson for the Hartford Citizens For Responsible Government (262) 670-6571
