Hartford Citizens for Responsible Government
This forum is locked: you cannot post, reply to, or edit topics. Are you new to this forum? Please go here first!
The HCRG was created in response to the annexation of land on March 28, 2006, for the development of a Wal-Mart Super Center on Hartford's west side. However, the goal of the HCRG is to bring a new voice of the People of Hartford to the city leaders, and assist in getting the word out as to what is happening in our city on topics that affect our quality of life. Please feel free to post new concerns, or ask new questions through this forum. Hopefully, our mayor and common council members will be watching. Thanks for stopping by. HCRG

They're not. What the HCRG is against is irresponsible government. The attached summary, first published in the 8/14/06 West Bend Daily News explains it best.

No new posts School Board needs money...
Dilema: The Hartford Unified School District desparately needs money to expand schools and maintain the existing ones. But the residents won't approve funding, and the City keeps annexing land and approving more housing projects, which means even more students in already over-crowded our schools. Do you have an idea on how to resolve it? Let's hear it!

No new posts Economic Impact of Big Box Stores (not editorials)
The Hartford Common Council refuses to finance one, so this topic entry will simply list some economic studies that have been done elsewhere in the US on the economic impact of Big Box Retailers (including Wal-Mart) on local economies. As much as possible, we will try to locate studies done on cities similar to Hartford in population, distance to a major metropolitan area, and saturation of other big box stores. For studies that you would like to have included in the listing, please e-mail the link to info@hartfordcrg.org. Comments on these studies can be placed here, but the first posting will be continually edited to add to the listing of available studies.
